Family Testimonials

Every family's experience is different. Here are some of the stories that have been shared with us.

CT

Catherine Tan

Daughter, Bishan

My mother moved into GoldenCare's assisted living programme about eight months ago, and the change in her mood has been quite something. She is eating well, joining activities, and the staff seem to genuinely know her. They remember her preferences and talk to her like a person, not a patient. I visit twice a week and always feel welcome.

Raymond Lim

Son, Toa Payoh

Dad was in the rehab programme after his hip surgery. The physiotherapists were encouraging without being pushy, and the nurses kept a close eye on his pain levels. He was nervous about being away from home, but the team made the transition much smoother than I expected. He returned home after five weeks feeling steadier on his feet.

Priya Subramaniam

Daughter-in-law, Woodlands

We were apprehensive about moving Amma into a memory care programme, but the staff at GoldenCare handled the transition with such patience. They took time to learn her habits, her favourite songs, and even how she likes her tea. Some days are harder than others, but knowing she is in a safe and gentle environment gives us peace of mind.

Son, Ang Mo Kio

What I appreciate most is the communication. The team never makes me feel like I am an inconvenience for asking questions. They send me updates and are always willing to sit down for a chat when I visit. My father has been with GoldenCare for over a year now, and I have seen him open up socially in ways I did not expect.

Michelle Ng

Granddaughter, Jurong East

My Ah Ma needed a place to recover after a fall. The rehab team was very thorough β€” they set clear goals and kept us updated weekly. The food was good too, which mattered more to her than anything else. She went home after four weeks and is back to her daily walks. We would consider GoldenCare again if the need arises.

Ahmad Ibrahim

Son, Tampines

My parents were both in need of support, and GoldenCare was able to accommodate them in the same wing. The staff are respectful of their cultural and dietary preferences, which was important to our family. The care reviews are helpful β€” they keep us involved without being overwhelming. I feel confident they are in good hands.

Care Journeys

A closer look at how our programmes have supported real individuals and their families.

From Hospital Bed to Morning Walks

The Situation

Mrs. Ong, 78, underwent knee replacement surgery and was discharged after a week in hospital. Her family was concerned about her managing at home alone during recovery, particularly with stairs and bathroom access.

What We Did

She enrolled in our Rehabilitation & Recovery Stay. Our physiotherapy team designed a programme focused on strengthening exercises, balance training, and stair navigation. She received daily therapy sessions and nutritional support tailored to recovery.

The Outcome

After six weeks, Mrs. Ong was able to walk independently with a cane and manage stairs with confidence. She returned home and resumed her morning walks in the park within two months of discharge.

"The therapists were patient and kind. They never rushed Mum. She felt safe to try things at her own speed." β€” Mrs. Ong's daughter

Finding Comfort in a New Routine

The Situation

Mr. Goh, 82, was diagnosed with early-stage dementia. His family noticed increasing confusion at home, including difficulty remembering mealtimes and the layout of their flat. They were worried about his safety when alone.

What We Did

Mr. Goh joined our Memory Support Programme. The team created a consistent daily routine, used wayfinding aids, and introduced sensory activities he responded well to β€” particularly Hokkien folk songs and gardening in the courtyard. Staff communicated with his family weekly.

The Outcome

While cognitive decline continues, Mr. Goh has settled into a rhythm that brings him comfort. He smiles during music sessions, participates in group activities, and his anxiety episodes have decreased significantly. His family visits regularly and feels involved in his care.

"It was not an easy decision, but seeing Papa calm and engaged gives us a sense of relief we hadn't felt in months." β€” Mr. Goh's son

A Community to Call Home

The Situation

Mrs. Chen, 75, was living alone after her husband passed away. Though physically capable, she experienced loneliness and rarely left her flat. Her children, based overseas, were concerned about her wellbeing and social isolation.

What We Did

Mrs. Chen moved into our Assisted Living Residence. She was given a private room and introduced to the social calendar β€” group exercises, mahjong afternoons, cooking classes, and weekend outings. Staff gently encouraged participation without pressure.

The Outcome

Within three months, Mrs. Chen had formed friendships and become one of the most active participants in group activities. Her children noticed a significant shift in her energy and outlook during video calls. She says the communal meals are her favourite part of the day.

"We were hesitant at first, but Mum is happier now than she has been in years. GoldenCare gave her a community." β€” Mrs. Chen's daughter
